MY LORD,

In our telegram of the 18th instant we reported the embarkation for England of Surgeon-Captain W. W. O. Beveridge on the 9th instant and of Surgeon-Major W. L. Reade, Dr. J. A. Lowson and Surgeon-Captain A. L. Borradaile on the 16th idem.

2. We beg to state that the services rendered by these officers have been of a very valuable nature. Surgeon-Major Reade and Dr. Lowson were appointed Joint Plague Commissioners, Bombay, to advise us in regard to plague operations and to advise district officers. They also gave advice on the subject to some of the other Local Governments and Administrations. Surgeon-Captain Beveridge was employed as medical officer and as member of the Plague Committee, Poona, and Surgeon-Captain Borradaile was on plague duty in Sind. We forward herewith, for Your Lordship's information, a copy of letters we have caused to be addressed to the above-mentioned officers.

3. We beg to express our acknowledgments to Your Lordship for obtaining the loan of the services of these officers.
